I enjoy drawing from observation, playing with paint, and exploration in sculpting, jewelry, sewing, and making. As an artist raising two young artists the creativity we share is my greatest inspiration and joy.
I'm an arts educator with 25 years of experience championing the arts in NYC who spent the second half of my career directing some of the largest youth arts programs in the country. Makers Meet is the culmination of my research in the field, a lifetime as an artist, and my parenting journey.
If community support and inspiration plus weekly curated live events for your child are what you are seeking The Curious Community is for you.
If new arts courses each month and weekly virtual studio time for your young artist is what your family needs we invite you to join The Makers Academy.
Everything is offered in differentiated and flexible ways that you and the artists in your lives can participate at your own pace on your own schedule.
We prioritize high quality instruction through simple clear instructional videos. We provide additional tips and tricks, resources, and guides for adult support and preparation. Our content is for elementary aged youth and their families.
We maximize youth interaction and artmaking fun during live zoom open studio sessions. The studio time is flexibly scheduled for all artists to join at any stage of their artmaking process. Some sessions are targeted for specific age groups or topics, but many are open to all. As membership grows we will continue to expand our schedule and adapt to member requests.
"We are SOOO happy to be a part of this community. It brings out a side of her we don't often see these days. This has been the school experience we were looking for her this year but sadly we didn't get from her day school, especially in terms of interaction, attention, connection with peers. Art class with Erica is easily the best part of our daughter's week." - Jamari B parent
"Erica's classes inspire my son to explore his creativity and present his thoughts through art. Her online classes bring joy to his day. Erica has a unique ability to connect with children and encourage them to be themselves through artistic practice. Her classes confidence to my son, and he smiled and laughed a lot along the way." - Nicole W parent
"Erica is a master at creating supportive spaces for artists. I rely on her as a mentor who inspires me. Erica is skillful and compassionate community builder where every voice is given respect, and every person feels valued. I know anyone who has the good fortune to engage with her, will feel deeply enriched." - Hope G parent and teacher
"I like art with Erica. Its fun and she always lets everyone have a chance to speak. I like all of her classes. They are fun!" - Camille 3rd grade artist
